myopia (nearsightedness)

In nearsightedness either the eyeball is too long from front to back, or the focusing power of the cornea and lens is too great.  As a result, images of distant objects are blurred and images of nearby objects are usually clear.


Symptoms may include:


  • blurred vision when viewing distant objects
  • eyestrain

Treatment may include: 


  • eye
  • glasses
  • contact lenses
  • LASIK surgery
  • ophthalmology
