lichen planus
Lichen planus is a disease in which there is an itchy, swollen rash on the skin or in the mouth.
Symptoms
Symptoms
may include:
mouth
lesions
poorly defined area of blue-white spots or pimples
skin lesions
dry mouth
hair loss
metallic
taste
in the mouth
ridges in the nails or other nail abnormalities
Causes
The exact cause of lichen planus is unknown. However, it is likely to be related to an allergic or immune reaction.
Treatments
Treatments may include:
medication
lidocaine mouth washes
topical anti-inflammatory or anti-itch medication
