Actinic keratosis is a skin condition characterized by rough, scaly patches on the skin of the face, lips, ears, back of hands, forearms, scalp and neck. The cause is frequent or intense exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays, typically from the sun.
Symptoms may include:
- flat or slightly raised scaly patches on the top layer of skin
- lesions on the skin, ranging in color
