Astigmatism is a vision problem that causes objects to appear blurry and distorted.  It may affect both distance and near vision.


Symptoms may include:

  • farsightedness
  • nearsightedness
  • blurry vision at all times
  • feeling tired after reading
Causes may include:
  • cornea has an oblong or oval shape instead of a spherical or round shape

Treatment may include:

  • eyeglasses
  • contact lenses that are shaped to the curvature of the cornea
  • surgery
  • LASIK surgery
  • ophthalmology
