Streptococcus pneumoniae is an infection caused by streptococcus pneumoniae.
Symptoms may include:
- in meningitis
- fever
- stiff neck
- drowsiness
- rash
- seizures
- irritability
- possibly effusion
- in pneumonia
- fluid-filled tissue and lobes
- shaking chills
- cough
- rust or green-colored mucus
- high fever
- elevated pulse
- bluish lips and nailbeds
- confusion or delirium
Treatment may include:
- supportive, symptomatic care
- activity as tolerated
- diet as tolerated
- medication
