shock (cardiogenic)
 

Cardiogenic shock is a state in which the heart has been damaged so much that it is unable to supply enough blood to the organs of the body.  This occurs whenever the heart is unable to pump enough blood for the needs of the body.

 
Symptoms

Symptoms may include:

 

  • anxiety
  • nervousness
  • coma
  • loss of ability to concentrate
  • loss of alertness
  • decreased urine output
  • pale skin color or blotchy skin
  • profuse sweating
  • moist, cool skin
  • rapid breathing
  • weak, rapid pulse
  • restlessness, agitation, confusion
 
Causes

Causes may include disorders of the:

 

  • heart muscle
  • heart's electrical conduction system
  • valves
