rectal prolapse Rectal prolapse is when the tissue that lines the rectum falls down into or sticks through the anal opening. Symptoms Symptoms may include: reddish-colored mass that sticks out from the opening of the anus rectal tissue may visible and may bleed Causes Causes may include: pinworms whipworm infection cystic fibrosis malnutrition or malabsorption constipation injury to the anus or pelvic area Treatments Treatment may include: tissue manually returned to the rectum surgery
