pulmonary edema

Pulmonary edema is an abnormal build up of fluid in the lungs, which leads to swelling.


Symptoms may include:


  • shortness of breath
  • difficulty breathing
  • feeling of drowning
  • gurgling sounds 
  • wheezing
  • shortness of breath when lying down - person may need to sleep with their head propped up
  • cough
  • anxiety
  • restlessness
  • excessive sweating
  • pale skin
  • inability to speak
