pituitary tumors

The pituitary is a small gland located behind the nose.  It is responsible for controlling the secretion of hormones.  The pituitary is responsible for growth and development, the functions of various organs in the body, and the function of other glands.  A pituitary tumor is an abnormal growth in the pituitary gland, the part of the brain that regulates the body's balance of hormones.


Symptoms may include:


  • vision changes
  • headache
  • nausea or vomiting
  • skin changes
  • temperature sensitivity
  • growth problems
  • unexplained weight gain or loss
