Viral gastroenteritis is an intestinal infection marked by watery diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea or vomiting and sometimes fever.
Causes may include:
- eating or drinking contaminated food or water
- contact with an infected individual
- shellfish - especially raw or undercooked oysters
- virus, rotavirus or noroviruses
